There’s so much to do in Prague that it’s easy to get caught up wondering if you even have enough time to see everything you want

There’s so much to do in Prague that it’s easy to get caught up wondering if you even have enough time to see everything you want. So long as you follow along our plan, you’ll get off the beaten path of Prague to see local gems.

Our 2 day itinerary takes you through a weekend in Prague to the famous Charles Bridge and Prague Castle, to local markets and one of the best rooftop bars in the city. With recommendations for every budget, we’re sure our 2 day itinerary will be right up your alley.

Pack your bags and get ready to explore the amazing capital of the Czech Republic. Spend 2 days in Prague uncovering its iconic sights such as the Charles Bridges and Prague Castle, discover the local culture at Naplavka farmers market, and tasting local beer in a hidden underground bar. We’re here to help you get off the beaten path.. Even the well-known sights have their secrets in Prague! You can also find all of these and more on our map.

Day 1 in Prague

Here’s what you should see in Prague for 2 days. The first day in Prague begins at the iconic bridge, then to an exploration of Prague’s beautiful river in a unique way. We’ve got hidden gems for you too with a local farmers market and more. The first day of our itinerary is all about falling in love with this amazing city.

Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge (“Karlův Most”) should be one of your first stops in Prague. Get there early enough and you’ll avoid most of the tourist crowds. The sunrise is absolutely stunning here. Walking across Charles Bridge, you’ll have a great view of Prague Castle and the Vltava River. Don’t forget to touch the metal plaque here - it brings good luck!

Here’s our top tip. The view from the bridge is great, but if you want to see the hidden gems of Charles Bridge then step into its towers. This is how you get off the beaten path in Prague. Here you’ll find a small museum filled with things once lost in the Vltava River. What treasures will you find? Climb to the top of the tower for even better views of Prague Castle in the distance.

Paddle Boating on the Vltava River

Paddle boats on the river on the weekend in Prague
Red White Adventures

Your next stop is the Vltava River itself. You can’t go to Prague without exploring the Vltava River. The only question is how you do it. To change things up from the usual boat tours you see, we recommend renting a paddle boat to pilot yourself across the waters. Paddle boating is a perfect fit for slow travel! Best in the summer, go at your own pace down the river. Bring some snacks along too.

Paddle boating gets busier in the summer - it’s super fun on a sunny day. You can also rent a paddle boat in the spring and summer. If you’re in Prague for the winter, then wrap up warm and explore the river by foot instead. Or skip ahead to the city and spend more time enjoying the winter wonderland of Prague Castle.

Náplavka farmers market

Shop in Náplavka, Prague, Czech Republic
Red White Adventures

Our next destination on our 2 day trip in Prague lies on the waterfront of the Vltava River. Open on Saturday’s, the Farmers' Market at Náplavka is one of the best weekend markets to visit in Prague. Náplavka itself is one of the coolest up and coming shopping districts in Prague. Shops and restaurants here lie behind rotating glass doors in “caves”.

The farmers market at Náplavka takes place on the riverfront. Pick up fresh and local fruit and veggies, mushrooms, meat, cheese, eggs, and more. Everything you need for a taste of Prague is right here.

It's a great addition to your trip if you’re looking for local vibes and non-touristy things to do in the city. Even if you can’t make the Saturday to see the farmers market, it’s worth checking out Náplavka to see the shops. Náplavka really comes to life on the weekends in Prague!

Dancing House

Dancing House

Just a short walk from Náplavka is one of the most iconic buildings in Prague. Dancing House (“Tančící Dům”) rose from the ashes of World War II and has become one of the best rooftop bars in the city. Before you head up to enjoy the view, take a photo in front of the building - it’s one of those things you can’t miss. Then, get up to the top and enjoy an awesome view of Prague Castle.

Rest up and get ready for your next day in Prague…

Day 2 in Prague

Your weekend in Prague is almost up. How should you spend your last day in Prague? First, we’ll be entering the iconic castle, discovering its hidden gems, then crossing the cable car for another amazing view of the city and to visit the beautiful Petrin Tower. As the sunsets, you’ll finish up the day sipping beer in the Joystick Bar.

John Lennon Wall

Street art on the John Lennon Wall, Prague
Red White Adventures

Known as Lennonova Zeď to the locals, the John Lennon Wall is a mural to the famous musician and Beatles band member. Ever since 1980, the John Lennon Wall has stood proudly as a metaphor for freedom against the Communist regime that once sought to stifle freedom of speech in Prague. A unique and iconic sight, the John Lennon Wall is definitely worth a visit while we walk towards another unmissable sight.

Prague Castle

What’s a 2 day trip to Prague without visiting Prague Castle? Not a trip we’d recommend. Prague Castle is one of those sights everyone has to see. It doesn’t have to be touristy so long as you follow our top tips…

Enter into a fairytale world inside one of the biggest castles in the world. You can spend hours wandering here, but we are on a time limit! The best things you need to see at Prague Castle are the shopaholic's dream of Golden Lane and the restored 17th century building of Strahov Monastery Brewery.

Prague Castle

Golden Lane

Golden Lane is a classic and narrow cobblestone street complete with adorable shops that were once upon a time home to the castle servants. It’s a perfect place to pick up a gift or two!

Strahov Monastery Brewery

The Strahov Monastery Brewery has been brewing up the goods since the 17th century. Now the brewery is fully restored and makes amazing craft beer. We really recommend you take a break here after walking around before we continue on to the next step. Get your camera ready!

Petrin Cable Car

Petrin Cable car going uphill, Prague
Prague Public Transport (DPP)

You might imagine that cable cars are just up in the far off mountains. But Prague has a cable car in its urban centre too and it’s one ride you shouldn’t miss. The Petrin cable car, aka Lanová dráha Petřín, is the best way to get up to the Petřín Lookout Tower. The journey up to the tower isn’t talked about enough we’ve found in Prague city guides! You get a view of the beautiful Petřín park and views of the castle in the distance.

Plus at only 5 minutes long, you’ll have more time to spend at the Petřín Lookout Tower which is the highlight here. You can also walk up to the tower if you prefer. Next stop is the Petřín tower!

Petrin Lookout Tower

The Eiffel Tower’s younger sister, Petřínská rozhledna aka the Petřín Lookout Tower is beautiful in its own way. Unlike the Eiffel Tower that’s stuck in the city, Petřín Tower is surrounded by nature making it one of the sights of Prague that makes the capital so special. Located at the very top of Petřín Hill, you need to come to the top of the lookout tower for the best views of Old Town Prague and more. Climb the nearly 300 steps to see why Prague is called the “City of Spires”!

Top tip! Petřín Lookout Tower is surrounded on all sides by nature and gardens. Visit in the spring, especially around April, to see the gorgeous cherry blossoms. This place is beautiful in every season though and it’s definitely not one to miss on your 2 day trip to Prague.

Petřín Lookout from the hill

Head back either on foot or back down the cable car. We’re finishing off the day in one of Prague hidden gems.

Joystick Bar

You can’t go to Prague without sipping on some beer. The Joystick Bar is one of our fave bars in Prague. Here you’ll hang out at the arcade machines, bust out a move at DDR, meet locals, and try out a bunch of Czech beers. If this bar is cool, how is it a hidden gem? Well, it’s literally hidden away down a quiet street near Wenceslas Square. They don’t really advertise it, so make sure to use our map to check that you’re close! Play the night away as you finish up your final day in Prague.

Staying around for longer?

You can easily spend 2 days in Prague and still have plenty left to do. Stick around for longer near Prague by following our guide to Day Trips from Prague with all the tips and details you need from locals Red White Adventures. Gorgeous cities and hidden gems are just a short train ride away. Discover the legend of Narnia in one of the most beautiful national parks in the Czech Republic or travel to the nearby charming city of Cesky Krumlov.

How to budget in Prague

How much money do you need to have an awesome time in Prague? Our 2 day Prague itinerary won’t bust the bank! But you can always switch things around to suit your budget. You can easily get away with spending around 35€ (about 882.32 CZK) a day in Prague. If you’re on a luxury budget, you’re looking at about 60-70€ a day.
